Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle technique used to return lymph from areas it is pooling back into the circulatory system. While anyone may try this service, it is particularly useful to people who have conditions with swelling due to an overloaded or insufficient lymphatic system: mastectomies, surgeries, injuries, and lymphatic/circulatory insufficiencies are the main reasons people seek it out. In these cases, the body’s natural lymphatic drainage function is compromised and may need help to reduce swelling, particularly in the extremities. Though the research is still lacking, MLD has been sought out for a wide range of other reasons: abdominal bloating, immune system function, allergy relief, Alzheimer’s prevention, cosmetic benefits. Since it is gentle and peaceful, people also like MLD for its relaxing qualities!
